House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer has ramped up efforts to investigate the Epstein case by issuing subpoenas targeting Bill and Hillary Clinton, among others.

Comer disclosed the issuance of additional subpoenas to various individuals, stating that they aim to gather information relevant to the investigations concerning Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. Notably, the committee mentions that these are among only a few individuals involved in questioning related to these high-profile probes.

In addition, he has sought records from the Department of Justice (DOJ) concerning the Epstein investigation.

A bipartisan motion introduced by Republican Rep. Scott Perry from Pennsylvania directed the committee to summons Clinton and officials from the Obama, Biden, and Trump administrations. Among those subpoenaed are former FBI directors James Comey and Robert S. Mueller III.

Other figures under scrutiny include former Attorneys General Loretta Lynch, Eric Holder, Merrick Garland, William Barr, Jeff Sessions, and Alberto Gonzales. Each subpoena outlines the purpose of the investigation and specifies the individual’s possible knowledge of the Epstein case.

Comer indicated that while the DOJ is making attempts to release more information tied to the Epstein and Maxwell cases, congressional oversight is essential. He stressed the importance of examining sex trafficking laws and the handling of investigations by prosecutors.

This investigation could help shape legislative measures aimed at enhancing federal efforts to combat sex trafficking and reform methods used in investigating sexual crimes.

The subcommittee also approved amendments, including one from Pennsylvania Democrat Rep. Summer Lee, which directed the chairman to gather records from the DOJ related to the Epstein matter.

Moreover, Republican Rep. Andy Biggs from Arizona called for transparency regarding all communications between President Biden’s administration and the DOJ concerning Epstein.
