Community, officers pay respect to La Paz County Sgt. Rudd

PARKER, Arizona — A procession ushered in the body of a La Paz County Deputy Sergeant Wednesday. Michael Rudd returns to Arizona.

Sergeant Rudd is now back at the La Paz County Sheriff’s Office with his brothers and sisters, returning to his friends, family, and the community he served.

“I know it hurts for each of us, but let’s get through this together.” La Paz County Sheriff’s Office Sheriff William Ponce said:

The La Paz County Sheriff’s Office traveled to Indio, Calif., on Wednesday to pick up Sgt. Rudd in the coroner’s room there.

Sergeant Rudd was taken to a local hospital. I was run over by a passing semi-truck on Monday. The investigator says Sergeant. Rudd had just finished chasing a car on Interstate 10 when the accident happened.

The procession then returned to Parker, Arizona, where it was greeted by many respectful people.

“You’ll meet once in a lifetime and leave a mark on your heart,” said Cpl. Hilario Tanaka Yuma of Quartzsite Police Department.

Law enforcement agencies across the state assisted in escorting Sgt. Rudd. The people who had worked by his side every day were with him again.

“He was definitely a traffic expert, but I think he could throw at him in any situation and knew what to do. So he was one of those guys. I think he We are very happy to learn in the footsteps of the La Paz County Sheriff’s Office,” said Deputy Aaron Phoenix of the La Paz County Sheriff’s Office.

For some, Sgt. Thanks to Rudd, they have the careers they have today.

“He taught me a lot. He took me under his wing from day one as a substitute,” Deputy Phoenix said.

“I think that’s one of his hallmarks. His determination and drive to do his job reinvigorated me,” Cpl said. Youma Tanaka.

Prior to his law enforcement career, Sergeant Rudd also served in the US Army and US Air Force.

“Rudd was good at his job. Definitely Rudd was good at his job,” says Cpl. Youma Tanaka.

Sergeant Rudd died doing what he loved.
