A political operative has been charged with a felony following an investigation into unsent mail paid for by the Maricopa County Democratic Party in 2022.
Bruce Franks Jr. is charged with nine counts of forgery and 10 counts of theft, according to court documents. As first reported by Axios2022, the Maricopa County Democratic Party paid for about 100,000 mailers to be sent to voters before that year’s election, but they were never distributed.
Nerexia Galloway, the party’s secretary general, asked Agave Strategy, the company the group paid the mailer for, to use Franks’ printing company. Franks was Galloway’s fiance at the time.
Mr. Galloway resigned from his position after the incident was reported.
Franks allegedly gave Agave Strategies a false document in an attempt to prove that the mailman had shipped the package, even though it hadn’t.
The county party received a refund.
Franks’ first court appearance is scheduled for October 21st.
