Gila County, Arizona – CASA of Gila County Programs is excited to welcome two new volunteer advocates. Court-appointed special advocates serve as advocates for the best interests of local youth placed in foster care. After a thorough background screening process and pre-service training, these volunteers are assigned to a group of children or siblings currently in foster care. Volunteers serve as advocates for children, ensuring they get the services and voice they need in their future.

“As CASA of Gila County, we are honored to provide support to children who are going through one of the most unstable times in their lives,” said CASA Director Gail Petuli. “I am honored to serve as their attorney in their dependency litigation.”

“We are eager to welcome Gail to the CASA program in southern Gila County,” said Emily Nader, CASA Coordinator for Gila County. She said: “As we move into 2024, the need for volunteers like her will continue to be high to serve the many children in foster care. Our volunteers will continue to give children a voice. It gives hope along with consistent adults.”

The Southern Gila County CASA program is in dire need of additional volunteers. This program welcomes community members to apply now. There are no special degrees or experience required to become a CASA volunteer. Volunteers must be 21 years of age or older, a U.S. citizen, and pass a thorough vetting process. All training for this position is provided free of charge to volunteers.

CASA volunteers provide a valuable service to judges and contribute as consistent human beings to the lives of children in foster care. For more information, visit www.CASAofGilaCounty.org or call 928-402-4427.
