Media Coverage of Trump and Epstein vs. Gabbard’s Revelations
A recent analysis reveals that CNN and MSNBC have focused on President Donald Trump’s ties to Jeffery Epstein more than four times as often as the revelations from Tulsi Gabbard regarding the “Russiagate” scandal since July 18. This information comes from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
On July 18, Gabbard released a document where she described what she termed a “long-standing coup” against Trump, starting during the Obama administration after he beat Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election. In the weeks following, CNN and MSNBC mentioned the terms “Russia,” “Gabbard,” and “Obama” a total of 1,848 times. However, much of this coverage involved critiquing Gabbard’s decision to publish documents related to the alleged Russian conspiracy.
By contrast, Epstein was mentioned 8,101 times by these networks in the same timeframe, especially following a Wall Street Journal report on July 17 concerning an alleged birthday greeting Trump sent to a questionable financial figure. On the same day, Trump stated he was suing the Wall Street Journal and its owner Rupert Murdoch over this article.
During a segment of “Anderson Cooper 360,” guest host John Berman discussed Gabbard with Andrew McCabe, a former FBI assistant director. McCabe claimed Gabbard was trying to distract from controversies related to the Epstein case.
“This isn’t just information; it’s propaganda. It feels like a massive distraction,” McCabe commented. He suggested that Gabbard was taking advantage of the situation to gain favor with the White House, seemingly capitalizing on a past incident involving Japanese nuclear weapons.
At a White House press briefing on Wednesday, Gabbard mentioned she’d submitted a criminal referral to the Department of Justice concerning former President Obama.
During the same briefing, CNN chose to separate itself from Gabbard’s claims, with reporter Jeff Zeleney indicating that they would not cover her revelations.
Later that day, on CNN, McCabe described Gabbard’s associations with former CIA director John Brennan and former FBI director James Comey as “silly,” dismissing her concerns.
In the backdrop, Special Advisor John Durham released a report regarding the FBI’s investigation into alleged collusion between the 2016 campaign and Russia, claiming that the investigation lacked proper justification.
MSNBC hinted that Trump might be linked to malicious activities. Norm Eisen stated that Trump appeared to want to meet with Ghislaine Maxwell to clarify potential wrongdoing.
On the same day, MSNBC host Nicole Wallace concluded an episode discussing a Wall Street Journal report stating Trump had been informed of his name appearing in the Epstein files. White House Communications Director Stephen Chan dismissed the report as “fake news.”
Neither MSNBC nor CNN responded to requests for comment regarding this matter.
