Countless travelers have traveled along State Route 95 north of Lake Havasu City. However, next month the road will be slightly more mobile.
Prescott-based Fann Contracting is currently planning to donate 100,000 tons of recycled asphalt from the restoration of State Route 95 to the Mohave County Public Works Department. At the suggestion of Public Works Director Steve Latsky, the asphalt would be used to maintain roads and shoulders throughout Mojave County.
Recycled asphalt, also known as an asphalt grinder, will be stockpiled on county property at 1164 Fathom Drive in Desert Hills. However, a vote by the Mojave County Board of Supervisors will be required next week to accept and store that donation.
Asphalt milling is commonly used as a cheaper alternative to fresh asphalt and is known to withstand extreme weather more efficiently. , cheaper to maintain than fresh asphalt.
The Mojave County Board of Supervisors is scheduled to vote Monday at the board’s next meeting in Kingman on whether to accept a donation of 100,000 tons of recycled asphalt from Fun Contract.
