PRESCOTT, Arizona — An elderly couple who went missing Wednesday after spending two nights stuck in a car on a snowy road in Yavapai County has been reported safe.
The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office has launched a search for the couple in Spring Valley after Mike and Catherine Pena’s granddaughter was reported missing Wednesday.
The YCSO said Thursday that the Pena family’s car was found on icy roads along the Senator Highway. The couple drove to Palace Station on Tuesday and their truck got stuck in the snow on their way home.
The men, ages 77 and 79, spent two nights in the truck stocking up on fuel and supplies until the search party arrived, YCSO said.
The couple were airlifted out of the dangerous area and their dog, Daphne the Dachshund, was brought home by volunteers. YCSO said no injuries were reported and the couple are doing well.
