Crazy Video Shows Escaped Ostrich Bringing Traffic In South Dakota To Halt

A 7-foot-long ostrich escaped from a trailer on a multi-lane road in Sioux Falls, South Dutka County, on Tuesday, forcing cars to stop, according to the Associated Press.

Sioux Falls police were notified of the bird by a motorist just before noon, reports said. Reported.

The drivers were able to corral the ostrich as police and animal protection officials rushed to the scene, according to the Associated Press.

Footage from the scene shows the ostrich standing in front of a stopped car on the highway with people standing around it. The bird then moves to the other side of the road, turns around briefly and is pushed onto the shoulder, before being seen receiving the cup again. The video shows three people pushing the ostrich over their shoulders and away from the road.

A police spokesman told The Associated Press that the bird was one of several ostriches that had been transported on a trailer from outside South Dakota, and that one had been able to escape due to a malfunctioning trailer door, The Argus Leader reported. The lead officer for Sioux Falls Animal Control told the Daily Caller that the trailer's owner was among those who got out of their vehicle and corralled the bird.
