Congressman Dale Strong believes now is the time for Republicans to fight for real funding for border security, despite the possibility of a government shutdown.
The Senate has been negotiating in recent days on a compromise proposal that would provide aid to Ukraine and Israel while adding measures to secure the U.S. southern border.
If it passes the Senate, it will go to the House of Representatives. Where many Republicans are warning He said he would not vote for a bill that did not address the current border crisis.
Rep. Strong (R-Monrovia) discussed the issue Friday on WVNN's “The Dale Jackson Show.”
“It's that southern border that matters. If you want to draw a line in the sand, that's the question,” Strong said. “8.5 million people have entered this country illegally since Joe Biden took office.”
The lawmaker said there was a simple solution to the border issue.
“Well, let me tell you, it's very easy. Just stay in Mexico and it will be resolved quickly,” he argued. “And the other thing is that Biden might take some notes from Donald Trump. And when he did that, it stopped.”
Strong also believes open borders endanger U.S. national security.
“People may not understand, but this is not just Latinos from Mexico,” he explained. “Since Joe Biden took office, they've been coming in from 160 countries around the world. That's unacceptable. And the other thing that came up the other day is that the Border Patrol has special interest aliens… This means that there are 73,000 people who are classified as such.

Many House Republicans are currently calling for the impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, a move that Strong wholeheartedly supports.
“Joe Biden has failed. Secretary Mayorkas has failed,” he claimed. “That's why we need to move forward with his impeachment. He has failed to implement American laws, and that's why they created this fiasco at the southern border.”
Strong said he is hopeful Congress can pass strict safety measures, as many of his colleagues across the aisle have expressed dissatisfaction with the current system.
“The tune has changed here. It seems like the Democrats are finally tired of it, too,” he said. “Finally it started to affect them too. If you look at what happened in New York, they absolutely built bunker houses that were like schools for illegal aliens. Things like that in Alabama. I don't think that's going to happen. The people of Alabama won't let that happen.”
