Dana Bash: Democrats Want To Appeal To Men ‘Who Might Not Be The Sort Of Testosterone-Laden, Gun-Toting Kind Of Guy’

CNN host Dana Bash explained at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Wednesday night that Democrats are trying to appeal to men with low testosterone.

CNN host Jake Tapper told Bash and CNN's Abby Phillips that women “overwhelmingly” support Vice President Kamala Harris, while men tend to support Trump, but not “in as many numbers” as women to choose Harris. Bash weighed in on the gender gap among voters, saying Democrats are “learning” how to counter 2024 Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

“There is a gender gap. Over the last month, Democrats have rallied around a woman as a top candidate,” Bash said, noting that the party also nominated Hillary Clinton for president in 2016.

Bash noted that Clinton and Harris are “very different” candidates, and that the Harris campaign has strategically used male emissaries such as 2024 Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz and Harris' husband, second gentleman Doug Emhoff.

“They're trying to push an image of masculinity. Tim Waltz is one of them. Doug Emhoff last night is able to speak to men who may not want or want to listen to Hulk Hogan or guys from the Republican National Convention, who may not be the testosterone-laden, gun-toting type of guy,” Bash told his fellow CNN hosts.

“But on top of that, understand that in 2024, it's okay to be comfortable with yourself as a man who supports women,” Bash continued. “And that's something they're really hoping to reach beyond their base and reach out to male voters.”

Emhoff spoke at the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday night, while Walz spoke Wednesday night. (RELATED: CNN panelist says he found 'glaring flaws' in Harris-Waltz campaign)

In July, wrestling legend and keynote speaker Hulk Hogan went onstage at the Republican National Convention (RNC) and ripped off his shirt, sending the crowd into a frenzy. Other RNC speakers featured on CNN included Ultimate Fighting Championship CEO Dana White and musician Kid Rock, who both spoke before President Trump.
