Maryland Democratic Gov. Wes Moore told ABC News on Sunday that while he had publicly defended President Joe Biden's reelection, he had privately shared the “truth” about the campaign's decline.
During an interview on ABC's “This Week,” host Martha Raddatz asked the governor if he had become more concerned about President Biden “as the weeks have gone by” following his “disastrous debate performance,” noting that Governor Moore had said Biden should not withdraw from the race. “Well, I've spoken privately with the president. I strongly believe that if you care about somebody, you should tell them the truth. And I've had private conversations where I told the president the truth,” Moore said.
“I also know that the president deserves better than people running around and publicly demanding that the president of the United States step down, especially when you look at the track record of the Biden-Harris Administration,” Moore continued. “We had great partners in the Biden-Harris Administration to get us the results we needed in Maryland, so I knew that when he said he was going to continue to move forward, I was going to stand with him.”

“Well, I think the truth is there were real concerns. They were real concerns that I know people felt, but they were concerns that people told me they felt,” Moore continued.
