A Green nonprofit related to the Democrats say they may need to fold if they don’t have access to the large grant awarded by the Biden administration that Trump’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is currently working to close.
The Climate United Fund was established in early 2023 and then won nearly $7 billion from the Biden administration in April 2024, and from the Biden EPA’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF). The Trump EPA is about to terminate the grant due to concerns that it paid billions of dollars to Democrat insiders and other green organizations serving as donors, so it could have existed in waste and fraud. “The defendant’s misconduct has led to a unified environment causing real, immediate harm,” the March 10 submission warned. “Climate United does not have other committed sources of funding to replace grants. Without these grants, Climate United will soon run out of cash to pay operating expenses. They will no longer be able to meet employee payments, rent payments, critical service providers and contractor payments, commitments under already approved loans and awards.”
“In fact, as a result of the defendant’s actions, Climate United is forced to postpone compensation to maintain available cash for certain staff, while also being forced to confront increasingly disadvantaged terms from key vendors and future trading partners,” the filing continued. “Don’t respect our commitment will erode trust in a unified climate as an institution, undermine its reputation, and cause deep harm to local organizations that rely on the Climate Unified Fund to reduce energy costs and develop important energy projects that create jobs.”
