Dem Rep Says It’s ‘Hard To Conceptualize’ Why Women Support Trump

President Joe Biden announced that he would not accept the Democratic nomination, and Democrats have endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the party's nominee. approved He nominated her to run against Trump and succeed him in the 2024 presidential election. Crockett took umbrage at comments made by Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio during a July 2021 speech. speech The issue of childfree women has come up again since she became Trump's running mate. “What message do you send to voters, particularly women, who are looking at these comments and still undecided between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris?” MSNBC host Ana Cabrera asked Crockett.

“I just don't understand why women would want to support a candidate like that,” Crockett said. “Even before J.D. Vance became president, we knew that the policies they were promoting, the policies coming out of Project 2025, were nothing but an assault on women. As someone without children, I am completely outraged by every word J.D. Vance has ever said.”

Vance's comments about childfree women in a July 2021 speech appeared to be taken out of context at times in some reactions to his speech, as he excluded couples struggling with infertility from his criticisms of prominent Democrats like Harris and New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

“Now, let me clear my throat a bit, because I think this is important. Look, there are many people who can't have children for very complex and important reasons. I have good friends who struggle to find the right woman or the right man. And of course, there are people who can't have children for biological or medical reasons,” Vance said in his speech. “They are not the target of this statement, and it's important to point that out. There have always been people who want to have children but can't. Let's put them aside.”

“It's one thing to acknowledge that some people don't have children. It's one thing to acknowledge that people aren't having children through no fault or choice. But it's another thing to launch a political movement that is theoretically invested in the future of this country without anybody actually owning any responsibility for it,” Vance continued.
