New Jersey Democratic Rep. Bill Pascrill Jr. has died at age 87, his family announced Wednesday.
Pascrell Passed away Wednesday Morning Serving He served 14 terms in Congress, his family said in a statement. He had been hospitalized since July, but the cause of death is unknown. Fox News Reported.
“It is with deep sadness that we announce that our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Bill Pascrill Jr., passed away this morning,” X's post read. “As a U.S. Congressman, Bill fought until his last breath to return to the job he cherished and the people he loved. Bill lived his entire life in Paterson and had an unwavering love for the city he was born, raised and served. After a life dedicated to our great country, America, he now rests in peace.”

Pascrill was first elected to Congress in 1996 and made public safety, environmental protection and tax reform his priorities. According to His background: He has served on the House Ways and Means Committee since 2007 and was coach of the House Democratic baseball team. (Related article: Rep. The late congressman also served as longtime co-chair of the Congressional Law Enforcement Caucus and the Italian American Congressional Delegation, which, according to his biography, seeks to “advance Italian American history and culture in Congress.”
Pascrill attended Fordham University and served in the U.S. Army, from which he was honorably discharged in 1967, the biography said. He later served as a member of the New Jersey State Assembly in 1988 and was elected mayor of Paterson, New Jersey, in 1990.
New Jersey's other congressman, Democratic Rep. Donald Payne Jr., died in April at age 65, several weeks after suffering a heart attack.
