Less than 24 hours after the media announced that former President Donald Trump would be the next president, Democrats online offered opinions ranging from the predictable to the extreme, criticizing Trump’s He began calling on Americans to resist the deadline.
After Fox News declared Trump the winner in Pennsylvania late Tuesday night, the network and others projected him as the winner of the 2024 presidential election. As Democrats continue to argue that Trump is a threat to democracy, people online are currently debating how to resist his second term.
Democratic Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison wrote a vague post on X (formerly Twitter) Wednesday morning saying, “One thing’s for sure: we’re going to fight this.”

“Never Trump” conservative Bill Kristol also criticized X and called on people to resist the new administration.
The thinking going forward is that it’s important to have an unofficial but organized base of Trump resistance. Utilizing tools of power beyond President Trump’s control to thwart White House bullying and intimidation, protect individuals, and fight back politically.

Democratic New York Attorney General Letitia James said at a press conference Wednesday morning that she will continue her lawsuit against Trump despite his election on Tuesday.
“We did not expect this outcome, but we are prepared to deal with it. We have been here before, and my office has been preparing for months. ” said James. “We have faced this challenge before, used the rule of law to fight back, and we are ready to fight back again.”
New York Times op-ed writer and author Paul Krugman has hit back at those who question who is responsible for Mr. Trump winning a second term, saying his role is “to make things as I see them.” “It’s about telling the truth,” he said.

X users also: called Honors John Hinckley Jr., the attempted assassin who shot and killed President Ronald Reagan in 1981, who carried out the same attack on Trump.
Trump has come under growing criticism following two assassination attempts this year. In the first attempt in July, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks fired several shots at Trump’s Pennsylvania rally, killing volunteer fire chief Corey Comperatore and wounding two others. Trump’s ear was injured.
