DeSantis Dispatches Florida’s ‘Chuck Norris’ To Bring Back Illegal Immigrant Trucker From California

DeSantis Sends Officer to California for Suspect Arrest

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced on Wednesday that he had dispatched Lt. Col. Jay Collins to California to apprehend illegal immigrants implicated in the deaths of three individuals following an unlawful U-turn on a Florida highway.

The suspect, Haljinder Singh, an Indian national residing illegally in the U.S., was charged with three counts of vehicular homicide after a tragic incident involving his truck on a state turnpike near Port St. Lucie. Singh reportedly fled to California, where he obtained his commercial driver’s license (CDL). According to DeSantis, Collins was sent to arrest Singh.

Collins mentioned on X that he was headed to California to ensure that Singh would be returned to Florida. “Stay tuned,” he added regarding his mission.

Accusations against Singh by the Department of Homeland Security followed the release of video footage showcasing the incident. On August 12, he was seen executing an illegal U-turn through an access point designated for official use only in St. Lucie County, which ultimately blocked all lanes with his truck.

The video captures Singh and another person in his truck attempting this maneuver, leading to a collision with another vehicle.

According to investigations led by immigration and customs enforcement, Singh entered the U.S. illegally through the Mexico border in 2018 and later secured a CDL in California. Investigators have raised questions about how he managed to obtain his license, noting that he demonstrated very limited proficiency in both English and U.S. road signs.

A press release from the U.S. Department of Transportation indicated that Singh failed a basic English proficiency assessment, providing only two correct answers out of twelve questions and identifying just one of four traffic signs correctly.
