We haven’t heard much from Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis lately, but hurricane season always gives him a chance to shine.
DeSantis is a serious guy when it comes to emergency response. He rebelled against consensus during COVID-19, streamlined The government responded to hurricanes in ways no longer considered possible. Staying focused under pressure has always been his claim to fame.
So it’s no wonder Vice President Kamala Harris has no time for political maneuvering as Category 5 Hurricane Milton approaches the state.
DeSantis calls Kamala’s comments about him ‘delusional’
🚨Amazing: Governor DeSantis got scared today and nuked Kamala after attacking him for ignoring his phone calls:
“She’s delusional. She has no role here. She’s been vice president for three years, but she hasn’t contributed anything to these storm efforts. politicized the storm to salvage a failing campaign.” pic.twitter.com/GZQ5gGSThI

Corporate media is gripping the DeSantis news en masse, according to reports refuse to meet Harris before the hurricane made landfall. An aide to Mr. DeSantis told NBC News that “Mr. Kamala was trying to reach out to us and we didn’t respond” because “it seemed like it was political.” (Related article: Former Clinton aide is ‘silent’ about Harris, Biden’s ‘cavalier indifference’ to hurricanes)
But DeSantis himself denied rejecting the call in the way the media characterized it. “I didn’t know she called me,” he said at a news conference Monday.
However, the staff’s response was good. Why does DeSantis need to take time out of his busy schedule just to give Harris ammunition for a hilarious press release about Harris reaching across the aisle? Remember, she’s not the president. She is still only a vice president, a symbolic position with few actual responsibilities. There’s nothing Harris can offer him at this point to improve Florida’s situation.
DeSantis has already spoke He spoke about hurricane recovery with President Joe Biden, who remains the most important figure in his administration in the coming months. That’s the real story here and a real bipartisan move. So I think we should all be grateful that Biden can still answer the phone.
