Viewers called out ABC News debate hosts Lindsey Davis and David Muir on Tuesday for showing bias against former President Donald Trump during his debate with Vice President Kamala Harris.
Harris and Trump faced off in the first, and so far only, scheduled debate as the race remains close, and viewers on “X” criticized the moderator for fact-checking and interrupting Trump far more than Harris. (Related: Kamala Harris once thought a border wall was “un-American.” Now she supports it.)

“So now it's Harris, Lindsay and Muir versus Trump, as we said,” said Brent Bozell, founder of the Media Research Center. Posts About X.
The debate's first fact check came when Davis challenged Trump's claim that some Democrats support executing babies after birth in connection with abortion. According to To Newsweek.
Trump in 2019 video Former Virginia Governor Ralph Northam said that if a mother chooses not to give her baby medical care after birth, “the baby will be kept in comfortable conditions.” Davis said, “There is no state in this country where it is legal to kill a baby after birth.”

Trump also spoke about allegations that Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, were eating their pets, prompting Muir to fact-check the allegations.
“I want to be very clear here: A story came out about Springfield, Ohio, and ABC News reached out to the mayor there,” Muir claimed. “He said there have been no credible reports or specific allegations that individuals in the immigrant community have harmed, injured or abused pets.”
Muir also fact-checked Trump when he said crime had soared while Harris was vice president, citing FBI statistics that showed crime had gone down, and Trump countered that the numbers were faked.
“Weird that @abcnews hackers are only 'fact checking' Trump and allowing Kamala to continue lying,” Donald Trump Jr. said. Posts X. “Fake news is the enemy of the people!”
Harris mistakenly Accused The hosts did not correct the vice president when Trump called the white supremacists in Charlottesville “fine people” in 2017. Trump also claimed he would sign an anti-abortion bill, something the former president has repeatedly said he opposes, and neither host fact-checked the vice president's comments.
“The hosts at ABC News won't pursue any of Kamala's falsehoods. It's a joke,” said Fox News contributor Joe Concha. Posts About X.
