Phoenix (3TV/CBS 5) – Nearly 7,000 APS customers were without power Monday morning as a major winter storm dominated much of the High Country and other parts of northern Arizona.
About 4,000 customers are without power in the town of Pine, and about 2,500 people in the Forest Lakes area are without power, according to the Arizona Public Service (APS). As of 8:30 a.m., just under 500 of his customers are without power in the city of Payson. Photographs obtained by the Arizona family showed several uprooted trees and a number of severely damaged power poles.
Dangerous conditions have been reported throughout several mountain communities. First Alert meteorologist April Warneke reported early Monday morning that snow continued to fall at higher elevations, especially in Gila County. The National Weather Service reported that travelers along her SR-87 in Payson, and those along her US 60 near Globe, are likely to continue all morning.
