Doran Springs, Arizona – A Mojave County woman was arrested after lawmakers found a total of 43 dogs covered in feces and urine in her home earlier this week.
Agents were investigating complaints about animal hoarding at two homes. Doran Springs range. Some animals were reportedly straying and attacking nearby livestock, according to the Mojave County Sheriff’s Office.
Betty Fuchsel, 77, uses both of these traits and has been cited several times over the past few years in connection with alleged animal hoarding violations.
The 77-year-old was arrested on January 11 for failing to appear in court on these charges.
Authorities say they found the floor covered in feces, trash and urine.
Several dogs were trapped inside the house and in cars on the property with no access to food or water.
The 43 dogs were “emaciated and neglected in various stages,” said a Mojave County lawmaker.
Huxel now faces 43 more felony animal cruelty charges.
The dog is currently in custody at the Mojave County Animal Shelter.
