Upcoming EV Showcase Events in Bay Area
Members of the Bay Area branch of Drive Electric Alabama are organizing two events aimed at connecting current electric vehicle (EV) owners with those interested in learning more. The chapter will showcase a variety of electric vehicles at these free events. The first will take place on Saturday, August 30, at Love’s Travel Stop in Irvington, followed by another on Saturday, September 20, at the Son of the Sailor’s festival in downtown Mobile.
These showcases will provide a platform for attendees to engage in one-on-one conversations with EV owners. “Most Alabamians haven’t had the chance to drive an EV, so I imagine they have questions. The best way to get honest answers is through actual EV owners,” said Henry Brewster, the leader of the Bay Area chapter. “How far can I drive on a full charge? Where do I go to charge, and what does it cost? It’s something I hear about often. I encourage anyone curious to come and get their questions answered.”
In light of approaching deadlines, potential EV owners should note that federal tax credits for new and used EVs will be expiring on September 30. Organizers believe this is yet another reason to attend the showcase in Irvington.
Additionally, it’s good to know that Alabama Power customers can access savings, including reduced rates for overnight charging and a $500 rebate for home charger installation, according to Drive Electric Alabama.
“There’s really no better way to learn about electric driving than by speaking with EV owners,” said Michael Staley, President of the Alabama Clean Fuels Union, who drives an all-electric Chevrolet pickup. “At these showcase events, we strive to present as many EV models as possible. We welcome anyone to come and check them out, and have a chat with the owners about their experiences.”
The Bay Area chapter of Drive Electric Alabama recently held a successful EV showcase at Greer’s Market on St. Louis Street in Mobile.
“We want to maintain the momentum here in South Alabama and meet as many people as possible at these two EV showcases,” Brewster added.
