The European Union postponed its decision to impose tariffs on US exports leading up to mid-April, reassessing their strategy and allowing additional time to determine which products will be affected.

While many foreign leaders were celebrating the continued tariff war against the United States, others remained uncertain about the possible negative implications.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said, “It is inevitably quite a bit of dealing with tariffs that involve more tariffs.”
Shortly after the announcement of retaliatory tariffs in the US, the president of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said, “I deeply regret this measure. Tariffs are taxes, and they are bad for business, and even worse for consumers.”

Additionally, European Trade Commissioner Marcos Sevkovic told the European Parliament. “We are currently considering adjusting the timing of two sets of EU, so we can consult with member states on both lists at the same time.
Ireland’s Taojeech Michael Martin said pushing back tariffs would give him time to “respond wisely and strategically.”
