Williams fire in Cochise County burns down multiple buildings
Cochis County, Arizona – Evacuations were lifted amid the Williams Fire, which burned more than 1,320 acres. Cochise County.
The Arizona Bureau of Land Management said the fire had stopped and is now 90% extinguished.
In addition, all roads have been reopened.
“The blaze is being monitored by BLM and fire department officials, who are advising residents returning to the Copper Glance area to keep their windows closed as there are still air quality issues,” an official said.
Firefighters had reported “unusual movement of the fire” due to strong winds in the state earlier in the week.
At least five buildings, including two houses, were destroyed in the fire.
“Several cottonwood trees inside the fire are producing heat and smoke that could continue for the next few days. Two engines and one worker remain assigned,” BLM said. announced on April 7th.
The fire appears to have started on April 3 along the San Pedro River south of Hereford Road.
