Former President Joe Biden’s aide told Fox News Thursday that there was a contrast between how Democrats handle the interactions of the press and the way President Donald Trump handles them.
The man, Michael Larosa, appeared in “Ingraham’s Angle,” saying that Trump understands something about the media that Democrats don’t.
Host Laura Ingraham asked about the strategy behind Biden’s nomination. She said the Biden campaign has taken firm control over media coverage at the event, restricting journalists, and even restricting phone use at small gatherings where Biden relies heavily on teleprompters. Former White House press secretary Ali Fleischer criticized Democrats for not tolerating media scrutiny, hoping the media would match them. Larosa agreed, saying Democrats should emulate how Trump interacts with the media.
“Yeah, and one event that Joe Biden went to since leaving the White House told people they weren’t allowed to record it. They didn’t want anyone to see it. “Here’s the problem Democrats have with the press. They expect the press to work for them. They know that the press is ideologically working with them. They know that the press doesn’t like Donald Trump.”

Fleischer said Republicans are hoping for harsh media coverage and not loyalty from media outlets in contrast to Democrats who expect media compliance.
“So if there’s something anomaly in that pattern, they’ve betted reports that Republicans don’t. Republicans understand that no matter what we’re going to have a hard time with the press. That bar is low,” Fleischer said. “If you’ve had a good day in the press, it’s because there’s a low bar and you jumped over it. [the way] That Democrat does. And on the rare occasions when the press actually holds accounts, they think the press is their employees, so they can’t stand it. ”
A former Biden aide agreed, saying Democrats need to change the way they approach media relations. (Related: Black voters in the swing state say one thing Democrats don’t want to hear)
“I agree with him somewhat because I think what President Trump is doing is like I’m counselling all Democrats, but that reflects the issues of our party. “Trump doesn’t miss out on the opportunity to talk to Mike. He’s involved and is active. It’s the opposite of Democrats. And voters long for credibility, so we have to get through it. You can’t be real.”
Biden avoided interacting with the media and did not hold a traditional press conference in 2023. Like Biden, former vice president Kamala Harris also avoided communicating with the media.
