Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorcas on Tuesday ignored the reporter’s question about record numbers of migrants crossing the southern border via ports of entry.
Border Patrol agents recorded 99,495 encounters with illegal immigrants at the southern border in June, but the number of migrant encounters at ports of entry fell as the Biden administration ramped up immigration bookings through the phone app CBP One. It set a new record with 45,026, following 35,000 in May. according to to CBP data. Number of immigrants processed through CBP One reached 38,000 in June.
Mayorcas, who was apparently walking his dog with security guards, only responded to the reporter by identifying himself as a reporter for the Daily Caller News Foundation. “Excuse me?” he said. (Related: The True Story of Border Crisis, Says Biden Administration Is Under Control)
“The illegal encounter rate is low, but we’re taking people to the port of entry. Do you have an answer for that?” Any explanation? asked the reporter.
After Mr. Mayorcas left, the reporter ran into Mr. Majorcas a short distance away and asked him why he hadn’t answered the earlier question.
clock:
“Mr. Secretary, I asked you earlier about the southern border and you refused to answer. Do you have anything to say?” the reporter asked.
Mallorcas started walking again.
Ports of entry have been used by more migrants in recent months as the Biden administration expanded use of the phone app CBP One to allow about 40,000 migrants to enter the United States through ports of entry along the southern border. there is House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Greene recently told DCNF that he believes the use of CBP One is part of a “shell game.”
“There are lies in Congress and there is also the CBP One app, but this is nothing more than a grand shell game to automatically generate mass paroles in violation of Congress-passed laws. It’s a separation of powers and an unfair disregard for the U.S. Constitution,” Green said.
