Rep. Jim Jordan, an Ohio Republican who chairs the House Judiciary Committee, sent a letter to civil rights officials at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Friday asking them to appear for recorded interviews.
The Daily Caller first obtained the letter, addressed to Shobha Sivaprasad Wadia, the Department of Homeland Security's civil rights and civil liberties secretary, in which Jordan refers to the interim staff. report It “disclosed” that a Department of Homeland Security program known as the Case Management Pilot Program (CMPP) had received $55 million in taxpayer funds to provide “trauma-informed” services to undocumented immigrants.
“The Judiciary Committee is overseeing the Biden Administration's enforcement of federal immigration law, and our oversight includes an investigation into the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) actions during the worst illegal immigration crisis in our nation's history,” Jordan wrote in the letter. “As the civil rights and civil rights official at DHS, we believe you are uniquely positioned to provide information to our oversight and we ask that you cooperate with our requests.” (RELATED: EXCLUSIVE: Jim Jordan, James Comer send final warning to Merrick Garland ahead of contempt action)

“As a civil rights and civil liberties officer, you chair the national committee for CMPP, manage CMPP, and also work on immigration-related matters. Prior to joining DHS, you stated that “immigration enforcement should not be driven by 'crime' or 'felony,'” and argued against “the use of the terms 'illegal immigrant,' 'illegal entry,' and 'illegal alien.'” The Committee is concerned by these statements given your influence over immigration enforcement and policy at DHS. Therefore, we urge you to respond as soon as possible to a recorded interview with the Committee,” he added.
