Conservative groups are setting up mobile billboards around the Democratic National Convention (DNC) grounds in Chicago this week to highlight some of the shortcomings of President Joe Biden's sweeping climate change plan.
The Consumers Union, a consumer protection organization, signboard The event, which will take place around the United Center, will highlight how “expectations” for certain Biden administration climate policies differ from “reality,” as well as policies such as those promoting electric vehicles (EVs) that could benefit China. The Biden administration has at least 100,000 members since taking office in 2021. $1 trillion He will focus on climate change measures, including hundreds of billions of dollars in green energy subsidies introduced by the Inflation Control Act.
“The clean energy promises peddled by coastal elites have completely failed. Despite the manufactured hype, consumer demand for EVs is virtually nonexistent and taxpayers are funding a transition built on child labor and foreign dependency,” Consumers Union executive director O.H. Skinner said in a statement shared with the Daily Caller News Foundation. “Biden's $7.5 billion investment in EV charging has produced just seven charging stations and his policies promote 'Made in China' at the expense of American jobs.” (Related article: Hundreds of protesters take to Chicago streets, forcing shutdowns on eve of Democratic National Convention)

“This isn't just a policy failure – it's a moral failure that will cost American consumers and workers,” Skinner continued. “Instead of forcing progressive lifestyle choices that are only popular on our coasts on ordinary people, and wasting our money supporting foreign governments and child labor, it's time to let consumers decide for themselves what they buy.”
The Consumers Union billboard targets Democratic officials, including Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and his running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, for their climate policies being “a complete failure” and “not what consumers want.” Other billboards juxtapose the “promise” of a green energy transition — depicted in a mundane photo of an American family standing next to a charging EV — with the “reality” of headlines about the slow growth of the EV market and the presence of child labor in the mineral supply chain needed to mass-produce EVs.
The Biden administration has implemented aggressive regulations and spent billions of dollars on EV adoption, production and infrastructure, but the EV push has struggled to get off the ground as manufacturers lose money, consumers become cautious and executives start backing away from some short-term production goals. Critics Experts on EVs and broader green energy policy say China stands to gain greatly from these policies given its control over key global supply chains of minerals.
The Democratic National Committee did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
