EXCLUSIVE: DNC Sent Millions To Law Firms Behind ‘Unprecedented Lawfare’ Campaign Against Trump

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) sent millions of dollars to a law firm deeply involved in the “unprecedented legal war” campaign against former President Donald Trump, according to Federal Election Commission (FEC) records viewed by The Daily Caller.

The DNC has paid nearly $2 million for “legal services” to the law firm Kaplan, Hecker & Fink since August 2021, according to the DNC report. FEC Filings. The New York Times previously reported that LinkedIn co-founder and billionaire Reid Hoffman helped Pay Carol's legal costs.

The DNC did not pay the company any fees for its services from its founding in 2017 until August 2021. Carroll filed her first lawsuit against Trump in 2019.

The firm says it was founded to “build the law firm of the future, rooted in the principles of fairness, integrity, and justice.” Partner Joshua Matz served as counsel to the House Judiciary Committee during the first impeachment trial of President Trump. He was called back to serve during the second impeachment trial, according to the firm's website. The firm also touts its “representation as court-appointed amicus for former U.S. District Judge John Gleeson in United States v. Michael T. Flynn.”

The DNC has also reportedly paid millions of dollars since 2021 to the law firm Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale & Dorr for “legal services.” FEC FilingsBefore ABC News report The firm “has a long history of representing the DNC,” said Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale & Dorr, a law firm. Several Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dole alumni have held key positions in the Biden administration, including Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas and Ambassador to Mexico Ken Salazar. Former special counsel Robert Mueller is also a WilmerHale alumnus.

“There is now clear and shocking evidence that the Biden Democratic National Committee is paying Democratic law firms to engage in unprecedented legal warfare and election interference against President Trump,” Mike Davis, a legal adviser to Trump and founder and president of the Article 3 Project, told the Caller. In April, Democratic National Committee spokesman Alex Floyd stated “The DNC has not spent a penny of grassroots donors' money on litigation.”

Floyd's statement came following reports that the Democratic National Committee had used donations to fund special counsel Robert Hur's investigation of President Joe Biden.

The DNC did not immediately respond to inquiries about the payments to the two law firms.
