The Republican National Committee is asking every state to provide party information on how to maintain and cleanse voter roles as part of its latest election integrity initiative, Daily Callers first learned.
The RNC’s Election Integrity Unit will launch one of the biggest record requests in history on Tuesday, sending records requests to Washington, D.C., the official shared with the caller. By requesting information, the RNC is trying to ensure that only eligible voters are registered to vote in their respective states across the country, officials told callers. The parties also require documentation on how states will eliminate unqualified voters, such as non-citizens, criminals, or those who have died.
“The RNC is taking action again to make elections safer. Voters have the right to know that states are acting promptly to maintain their voter role properly and clean up their voter registration list by removing unqualified voters.
Under the National Voter Registration Act and the state-specific public records law, states must maintain and provide records to the general public about how they maintain an accurate list of registered voters. The party did not request documents from Maryland and North Dakota, which do not have a previous voter registration process.
