EXCLUSIVE: ‘Totally Silent’: Donald Trump Jr. Says Media Won’t Give Walz Family The Mary Trump Treatment

In an exclusive interview with The Daily Caller on Wednesday, Donald Trump Jr. explained that he doesn't think the media will report on the reported support for rival former President Donald Trump by several members of Minnesota Democratic Gov. Tim Walz's family, including his own brother.

Earlier in the day, a photo of eight people allegedly associated with Democratic vice presidential candidate Waltz wearing “Waltz Trump” shirts went viral. They were all standing in front of a “Trump 2024, Take America Back” flag. The Caller asked Trump Jr. about the photo and whether he thought it would affect the election, to which the former president's eldest son responded that the media would be “totally silent” on the matter. He likened the photo to his father's niece, Mary Trump, who has openly criticized his father, although Trump Jr. said he has only met Mary once in 25 years, for a short time.

The photo was originally shared by a family friend and then posted by former Nebraska Republican gubernatorial candidate Charles W. Herbster. Newsweek Reported.

“It's interesting the complete silence from the media. They've made Mary Trump into the most knowledgeable person in the Trump family. I've only met this person once in 25 years, at the White House at my aunt's birthday party for about 90 minutes, two hours, when my father was president. I hadn't seen her since I was in my early teens. Yet they've portrayed her on TV as the most knowledgeable person in the Trump family. We haven't met this person in years. It's just part of the deception,” Trump Jr. told the Caller. (RELATED: Exclusive: Gold Star Families Struggled to Get Trump to Arlington Until House Speaker Intervened)

Mary Trump published a book about Trump, criticizing him for calling him “the most dangerous man in the world” and continuing to criticize him throughout his presidency. She accuses Trump of using racist slurs and other accusations, which Trump continues to deny. In September 2021, Trump filed a $100 million lawsuit against The New York Times and Mary Trump, alleging that confidential tax documents were improperly shared and that his niece was pressured to share the information.

Walz has come under fire for signing a bill supporting the placement of tampons in men's restrooms, facing defamation charges for claiming to have been in combat, and his history and ties to China — just some of the issues Trump Jr. spoke to Caller about regarding his running mate.

“So I hope that the media gives them as much attention as they gave to members of the Trump family who disliked my father or lied about my father. That's not going to happen, actually. But according to the rules of the media, everything they say should be taken with great consideration,” he continued. “And frankly, judging by Tim Walz's other policies, his burning down of his home state, his prioritization of putting tampons in men's bathrooms, his string of lies about the valor he stole and all of this, he doesn't seem like a nice person.” (RELATED: Exclusive: Jim Jordan Launches Investigation into Jack Smith's Indictment Against Trump)

“This is the last person you want to preside over anything, let alone potentially be president of the United States. But when you're a Democrat and you have the media propaganda machine promoting you, it's easy to get away with being a liar and a scumbag,” Trump Jr. added.
