FACT CHECK: Did Usher Refuse To Support Kamala Harris On ‘The View’?

Posts Share on social media They claim that musician Usher refused to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris during an interview on “The View.”

Verdict: False

That claim is inaccurate.

Fact check:

“The View” co-host Sunny Hostin criticized Brittany Mahomes, the former football player and current wife of NFL player Patrick Mahomes, for “liking” a post that suggested she might support former President Donald Trump. Fox News Hostin reportedly criticized Mahomes' position, saying she found it “problematic” to support Trump because of his interracial marriage.

The post shared on Facebook included a clip from Usher's recent interview on “The View” in which he is seen refraining from endorsing Harris in the 2024 presidential election.

The caption reads, “BREAKING: Usher rejects endorsement of Kamala Harris after Joy Behar calls Donald Trump an existential threat to her democracy.”

This claim is inaccurate: Videos shared on social media have cut out the portion of Usher saying he supports Harris for President. Full ClipJoy Behar asked, “So you're supporting Kamala Harris in this election?” to which Usher responded clearly: “Yes.” Later in the interview, he says voting is a personal choice and people should vote for the policies they want implemented.

Usher also endorsed Harris when Joe Biden made a campaign stop, saying, “Biden did a great thing. Empower Kamala Like he did.” USA Today. (RELATED: Has Whoopi Goldberg Vowed to Accompany Brittany Griner If She Leaves the U.S.?)
