FACT CHECK: No, This Video Does Not Show Tornado That Formed In Road During Hurricane Milton

The video caption is incorrect. The video was shot in Florida in April 2023, according to an upload from the Telegraph.

Before Hurricane Milton made landfall, several tornadoes formed across Florida, with one meteorologist calling the strength “insane.” Associated Press. The National Weather Service issued more than 100 tornado warnings as a result of the tornado, and the death toll was not made public, the newspaper reported.

The October 9th X video purportedly shows footage of one of these tornadoes forming on a road. The video, taken from a car, shows various debris being swept up and at one point a car being lifted into the air. I hear voices saying, “Holy cow,” and “Oh my god, it’s like it’s right in front of me.”

However, this video has an incorrect caption. The video was posted by YouTube Telegraph April 2023. “Incredible video of tornado tossing cars through the air in Florida,” the caption reads in part. “Video posted on social media showed bystanders watching in disbelief as the car drove down the road in front of them, before it was thrown into the air and rolled over twice.”

This incident was not related to the hurricane. Palm Beach, Florida was hit by multiple tornado warnings in April 2023, with at least one confirmed tornado announced. fox weatheralso shared the same video.
