Palestinian boxer Waseem Abu Sal reportedly wore a T-shirt depicting children being bombed at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Israel TimesSall told AFP his shirt “represents the current situation in Palestine,” the media quoted him as saying.
The X-image, which has been viewed over 200 times at the time of writing, purports to show two Egyptian black belts holding up the Palestinian flag after defeating their Israeli opponents at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In the image, the two Egyptian black belts can be seen standing on the first and second place steps of the podium, holding up the Palestinian flag, while their Israeli opponents stand in third place, holding up the Israeli flag. In the bottom right corner of the image is an icon that suggests it may have originally come from the online forum Reddit.
This claim is false. Check Your Fact did a reverse image search and found Reddit“Egyptian [sic] A post shared on an online forum two years ago was titled “Contestant holds up Palestinian flag over Israeli contestant.” The image has since been removed. Another reverse image search revealed Posted in November 2022 I'll post a picture on X.
