Given the left-wing outrage that followed its introduction, MissouriMaS MethodDemocrats appear concerned that Sen. Katie Britt (R-Alabama) has sent a winning message to Republicans across the country heading into the November election.
The MOMS Act states:A bill to increase opportunities for mothers to succeedThe bill would provide support to women during pregnancy and after birth, including before birth, after birth, and during early childhood development. The bill would increase access to financial and medical resources and assistance aimed at helping mothers and children.
Axios The bill would provide “a range of pre- and post-natal support to women,” it summarized. United Press International She explained that the MOMS Act would provide “enhanced resources for mothers” and “access to resources for pregnant women.”
“We will also introduce a grant program to purchase medical equipment and technology for prenatal and postnatal telehealth to serve rural and underserved areas,” UPI added.
The mainstream media attention given to the MOMS Act seems to have encouraged the far-left social media community and its allied blogs to misinterpret and even outright lie about the law.
Salon.comFor example, the MOMS Act falsely claimed to “launch a pregnancy tracking database.”
The MOMS bill would, in part, create Pregnancy.gov, a federal clearinghouse of resources available to pregnant and postpartum mothers, and mothers with young children. As described in the bill, this clearinghouse would increase access to adoption agencies, pregnancy resource centers, and other relevant public and private resources (including health care providers) available to pregnant women, mothers, and families within specific zip codes and their surrounding areas.

Despite the salon's salacious claims, Invoice Text The Act does not include any “tracking” and no database of pregnancies or pregnant women will be created under the Act.
In fact, users of Pregnancy.gov would not be limited to pregnant women, and no one would be required to disclose personally identifiable information to use the website or access its resource database. Nor would the bill's provisions require information about an individual's pregnancy status.
Other far-left social media users and blogs have falsely claimed that pregnant women will be forced to “register” by the government or will otherwise be added to a “registry.”
If we analyze the bill's language, we can see that no one is required to “register” to view resources for mothers available on Pregnancy.gov, and no registry will be created to distinguish or identify pregnant women. Through the website, anyone can browse relevant resources in a particular area without disclosing any personal information to the government. Providing contact information is optional and only if the website user wishes to receive a personal follow-up from HHS. And even if a user opts in to follow-up contact, they do not actually have to disclose any valid personal identifying information if they do not wish to do so. It is clear that users can remain completely anonymous throughout the entire process (both using the website and any follow-up) if they wish.
The involvement of Democratic National Committee Chairman Jaime Harrison in this public relations campaign against the MOMS Act indicates that this is a partisan effort by the DNC.
“She's creating a database of pregnant women so Trump knows who to prosecute if they have an abortion,” Harrison falsely stated on Twitter. “Another example of why this election is essential to protecting your freedoms and rights!”
SBA Pro-Life America shared a spot-on rebuttal to Harrison's post.
“These allegations are deliberately false and dangerous,” the group said. stated.
“Pro-life legislation protects women from prosecution across the board, and what's more, if you read the bill, it also provides a database of support. forWomen, not databases of “Women. Women's privacy is clearly protected,” the SBA said. “These claims are nothing more than a cynical attempt to distract from the Democrats' obsession with abortion and relentless attacks on charities that support women. While Biden has created a website that promotes the cruelty of abortion, @SenKatieBritt offers a more hopeful approach that offers real support to mothers and babies.”
writing Town HallRebecca Downs exposes the false claims about the MOMS Act as partisan, election-year political stunt. She specifically calls the legislation “common-sense pro-life legislation” that “provides support for both women and their children.”
Dahlia Monroe, CEO of Women's Hope Medical Clinic in Auburn, Alabama, Emphasized She expressed her support for the MOMS Act in writing.
“So many times I have heard women who have had abortions say, 'Oh, if only…' If only I could afford to raise my child. If only I had someone who believed in me. If only I could have access to prenatal care,” Monroe said. “My center works to address these issues and provides services such as pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, prenatal clinics, parenting education programs, diapers and full adoption services, all free of charge. I am so grateful to have lawmakers like Senator Britt standing up for women and providing solutions at the federal level.”
Senator Britt's introduction of the MOMS Act: Comprehensive Roadmap She pointed to how the Republican Party has proven to be “the party of hard-working parents and families.”
“This bill is further evidence that we can be pro-life, pro-women, and pro-family all at the same time,” Sen. Britt said in a statement. “The MOMS Act will promote a holistic culture of life, nurture and strengthen families, and ensure that mothers have the opportunities and resources they need to thrive and achieve the American Dream for themselves and their children.”
In April, Senator Britt spoke at a Senate Appropriations Subcommittee hearing. Questioned With HHS Xavier Becerra Exposure How radical is the Biden administration's abortion policy?
She has also championed bipartisan health care legislation to help vulnerable women, families, and children. Senator Britt recently joined Senator LaFonza Butler (D-Calif.) in introduce of NIH IMPROVE ActThis will provide consistent support and resources for NIH to conduct critical research into the causes of America's maternal mortality crisis and improve health care and outcomes for women before, during, and after pregnancy.
Additionally, Senator Britt joined Senators Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.), Susan Collins (R-Maine), and Tina Smith (D-Minn.) in signing the 2019 EPA-2020 EPA-2021 EPA-2022 EPA-2023 EPA-2024 EPA-2025 EPA-2026 EPA-2027 EPA-2028 EPA-2029 EPA-2030 introduce of Rural Obstetrics Preparation ActExpanding access to maternal and child health care by providing assistance to rural health facilities and physicians to provide emergency obstetric care. Senator Britt also Reintroduction of Access to Breast Cancer Diagnosis (ABCD) Act We plan to meet with Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-RI) in September 2023. This bipartisan, bihouse bill would eliminate copays and other out-of-pocket costs for breast cancer diagnostic testing, making testing more accessible and affordable.
As recently as last year, Senator Britt joined a bipartisan group of 59 of his Senate colleagues in Reintroduction of Creating Opportunities Now for Necessary and Effective Care Technologies for Health (CONNECT) Act 2023. The bill would expand coverage of telehealth services through Medicare and make COVID-19 telehealth flexibilities permanent, improving health outcomes and making it easier for patients to connect with their doctors, especially important in rural areas.
In addition, she Co-organized by Two bipartisan bills to ensure all Alabamians have access to insulin. Insulin Affordability Act of 2023capping insulin prices at $35 for a 30-day supply for all patients, including the uninsured. Improving Safety Measures Required for Users of Life-Saving Insulin (INSULIN) Bill 2023This will comprehensively address the rising cost of insulin, remove barriers to treatment, and make insulin more accessible to millions more Americans.
Finally, Senator Britt, along with Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Introduced of Adolescent Mental Health Research Methods Create a national youth mental health research initiative to guide long-term mental health care efforts, better target preventive interventions to those at risk of developing mental health problems, and improve treatments for children.
These common sense efforts, and the fact that Senator Britt is the only Republican mother of school-age children in the U.S. Senate, making her a uniquely effective message bearer in this election year, are why Democrats are doing everything they can to undermine her message.
