Chris Lacivita, senior political adviser to President Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign, filed a lawsuit against the Daily Beast on Sunday, who allegedly published a “malicious” report about him “recklessly ignoring the truth.”
Lacivita’s lawsuit unfolds in October 2024 article Axios, a senior advisor claimed to have won $22 million from the Trump campaign by investigative reporter Michael Ishikov It has been reported. The Daily Beast refused the request to withdraw Lashivita’s story, and instead added an editor’s note that he had made $19.2 million from the Trump campaign, making it clear that his company had received the alleged money.
“Editor’s note: The original version of this article incorrectly reported that the Lacivita company received a total of $22 million from Trump’s campaign and partner PAC. Based on further reviews of FEC records, the correct total is $19.2 million.” Notes from Beast editors are currently being read.
The lawsuit states that the story, titled “Trump – Campaign Chief LLC’s $19.2 million salary revealed in the cash crisis,” caused Rashivita, “incurring special damages,” including damaging his reputation.
“The defendant’s false statements created the false impression that Mr. Rashivita charged an exorbitant rate for his services and personally enriched the campaign, thereby damaging his reputation as an honest, rational and ethical political operation,” the lawsuit states. “As a result of the direct and proximity of the publication of the Honorable Loss Statement, Lacivita suffered special damages, including damage to his reputation and loss of business income.”
Lacivita has issued a short statement confirming the defamation loss lawsuit against the Daily Beast. (Related: “Idiosy Collage”: Former Trump Campaign Co-Manager Rips Dems to Waste Resources with Copy Pasted Trump Responsibility)

The lawyer representing Lacivita sent three letters to the Daily Beast, retracting the “honor and loss” story and urging the outlet to apologise first. It has been reported January. In his first letter, his team said in November that the work was an honorary loss as he claimed he received cash personally and not his company, and most of the money was used to pay for vendors and campaign ads, leading the beast to issue an amendment at the end of the work.
A second letter was then sent to the beast, claiming that the amendments were inadequate and that a retraction was necessary, Axios reports. The article “depicts Mr. Lashivita as apparently pocketing campaign money for his personal benefit,” the lawyer said.
The third character requested that the outlet remove podcast segments that reference the incorrect $22 million figure, Axios reported. The beast, following Lacivita’s request, issued an editor’s note and announced the outlet “Ed” The Error.”[ed”theerror”[Ed”TheError」を発表しました。[ed”theerror”
According to Axios, the Republican National Committee (RNC), which funds the lawsuit, first expressed its intention to sue the Daily Beast in January.
A spokesman for Daily Beast told the Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF) that the lawsuit was “valuable” and that the outlet intended to “protect vigorously.”
“The Daily Beast supports the report on Chris Lacivita. His lawsuit is useless, a transparent attempt to intimidate the beast and silence independent reporting,” the spokesman said. “The beast protects itself violently and looks forward to chasing money and see where every penny has flown at the LLC in Lacivita.”
Trump and his peers took part in several legal battles with the media. ABC News settled the lawsuit with Trump in December by paying him $15 million after host George Stephanopoulos was held responsible for the rape on March 10, 2024, and the president filed a $10 billion lawsuit against CBS News to compile a “60-minute” interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris.
The Republican National Committee did not immediately respond to DCNF’s request for comment.
