Caroline Patten died on December 23, a week after the Gilbert crash that killed her daughter and fiancé Cooper Lamb, son of Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb.
In a video posted on his Facebook site, the sheriff said Patten had died and asked for prayers for his family.
Gilbert Police are investigating an accident that occurred on Elliott Road and Coal Drive on December 16 at approximately 3:45 pm.
According to Gilbert Police, the silver truck was traveling west on Elliott Road when it “was about to make a left turn onto North Cole Drive and when it collided with a red passenger car traveling east, it hit a normal vehicle. It looked like speed.”
Gilbert Police and Gilbert Fire and Rescue attempted to rescue the three occupants of the red car. Cooper Lamb, 22, and her 1-year-old daughter Elaine were pronounced dead at the scene. Paton was taken to the hospital.
The Gilbert police report identified the pickup driver involved in the crash as 21-year-old Brian Torres.
“Following an on-site DUI investigation, Torres was arrested and transferred to the central Gilbert Police Department for DUI proceedings. An investigation is ongoing and a laboratory analysis of Torres’ blood is still pending.
“Once the investigation is complete, the charges may be referred to the appropriate public prosecutor’s office,” the press release said.
In a post on Facebook, Lam wrote, “Thank you everyone for the amazing support, love and prayers! We feel so blessed as a family!
“Keep praying for Caroline’s family as she passed away last night and is in heaven with Cooper and our sweetheart Elaine.”
