The National Weather Service issued a flood warning for parts of Maricopa County this Sunday.
Flooding across the valley is possible as the release of upstream dams continues, and is expected to last until 5pm Friday.
The release of dams above the Salt River has increased water flow along the Gila River, causing flooding at the low-flow intersections of Goodyear, Buckeye, Gila Bend, Painted Rock Dam, Cotton Center, Palo Verde, Liberty and Arlington. can occur.
The Salt River discharge continues to affect low water areas and bridgeless intersections near Tempe Town Lake, flooding on MacEllips Road and Gilbert Road, and 67th and 20th Streets of Phoenix in the area crossing the Salt River. Includes 91st Street closures.
Increased river currents and strong currents can cause flooding and hazardous water conditions in recreational areas in or near the valley. These include Tempe Town Lake, Blue Point, Pebble Beach, Salt River Tubing Recreation Area, Fort McDowell, Needle Rock Recreation Site, Verde River Recreation Site, and Riverside Campground just below Bartlett Dam.
Water discharge from the Painted Rock Dam could flood low-flow intersections and farmlands between the dam and Agua Caliente near the Maricopa and Yuma County Lines.
The Japan Meteorological Agency urges caution when using recreational sites during warnings. They also urge drivers not to drive through flooded areas.
