Geraldo Commends Trump for Attempting to Mediate Russia-Ukraine Agreement

Rivera Commends Trump’s Diplomacy on Russia-Ukraine Conflict

On a recent segment of Newsmax, Gerald Rivera expressed his admiration for President Donald Trump’s diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Trump shortly after his Alaska Summit, just days following a challenging encounter with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Rivera noted on “News Nation Now” that Trump’s demeanor on the international stage offers a sharp contrast to how his adversaries typically portray him.

“I was quite taken by President Trump’s charisma and calmness today. It was really uplifting, and I felt a sense of pride in his approach,” Rivera remarked.

He recounted a touching moment from the Alaska Summit where First Lady Melania Trump made a heartfelt appeal to Putin, urging him to prioritize peace, especially for the children affected by the war.

“Reflecting on that Alaska meeting, we certainly can’t overlook Melania Trump’s elegance. Her personal letter to Putin was significant, as we saw him read it while our aides looked on,” Rivera added.

Shifting focus to the humanitarian aspects of the conflict, Rivera emphasized the importance of addressing the situation of Ukrainian children in Russia as part of any peace agreement.

“It’s crucial we ensure these children’s issues are acknowledged and not overlooked, especially given the 20,000 to 40,000 children taken from the occupied areas of Ukraine and brought to Russia, where they face de-Ukrainization,” he said.

Zelensky recently convened with European leaders at the White House to explore peace options. Prior to this meeting, Trump had advised Zelensky to reconsider Canada’s NATO aspirations and to halt efforts to reclaim Crimea.

Russia has maintained control over the Crimean Peninsula since 2014, with most nations rejecting Moscow’s claims. In a recent address, Putin reiterated that Russian forces would formally incorporate the Donbas region, which they predominantly occupy.

Moreover, Putin has continuously warned that Ukraine’s potential NATO membership would represent a “red line.” In light of Russia’s full-scale invasion this year, NATO has moved to expedite Ukraine’s membership process.

U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff proposed an alternative to full NATO membership, suggesting that the U.S. could extend security assurances akin to NATO’s Article 5 without granting Ukraine full membership status.
