Punching Bag Preparation for the 2025 Monsoon in Tucson

Residents in Tucson, Arizona, are gearing up for the 2025 Monsoon season, which is expected to bring thunderstorms. In response, communities in Santa Cruz and Pima counties are providing safe and free punching bags.

In Santa Cruz County, locals can obtain free sand and bags, but they are required to bring their own shovels to the designated pickup points. The locations for obtaining these punching bags include:

  • Tubac Fire Station 2 – 1360 W. Entrance Road
  • Riolico – Fire Station 3 – 822 Dr. Pendleton
  • Nogales Suburbs – Fire Station 4 – 558 AZ-82
  • Patagonia – Fire Station 1 – 142 N. 3rd Ave.
  • Sonoita – Fire Station – 3173 AZ-83

Residents are encouraged to reach out to their local fire departments for further details.

Pima County is also setting up punching bag stations for community use. Officials mentioned that residents can fill up to 20 bags of sand per vehicle, so shovels and gloves are important to bring along. Pima County locations include:

  • Fire Station in Aribaka – 16091 W. Universal Ranch Road
  • East Snyder Road and North Layson Lane
  • East Carter Canyon Road and North Sabino Canyon Parkway – Mount Lemon
  • Golder Ranch Fire Station – 3885 E. Golder Ranch Dr.
  • North Pima Canyon Drive and East Ina Road
  • East Dawson Road and South Country Club Road
  • Pima County Maintenance Yard – 1313 S. Mission Road
  • South Camino Verde and West Joway – Fire Station
  • North Strico Road and West Silver Bell Road – Fire Station
  • Picture Rocks Fire District – 6625 N. Sandario Road
  • North East Corner – North La Canada Drive and West Paseo del Cino in Green Valley
  • Rincon Valley Fire Station – 14550 E. Sands Ranch Road
  • Pima County Maintenance Yard – 1131 N. Ajo Well Road
  • 2900 block of N. Shannon Road in W. Positano Way, near the laundry

Additionally, the Tucson Department of Transportation Mobility (TDTM) is also distributing free punching bags until mid-September 2025. Residents are reminded to bring shovels to the distribution sites.
