‘Got My Popcorn Ready’: MSNBC Analysts Fantasize About Trump Having ‘Racist Slip’ During Harris Debate

MSNBC commentators Donny Deutsch and Michael Steele explored whether former President Donald Trump accidentally made a “racist” comment during his upcoming debate with Vice President Kamala Harris during a podcast on Thursday.

Both the Trump and Harris campaigns have agreed to a debate on ABC News on September 10, and the former president has also announced that he has agreed to schedule a presidential debate with Fox News and NBC News.About the Donny Deutsch brand“Harris is a better fit for the debate,” he said, suggesting that Trump would be racist toward the vice president during the debate. “I'm sure there will be some really nasty racist gaffes. He's made a lot of racist comments already. There may be even more nasty things coming out than what we've heard so far,” Deutsch said.

“Donnie, you know that's going to happen when he calls her 'Kamala' and she says 'Excuse me, my name is Kamala.' What will he do then? What will he do? Where will he go?” Steele responded.

Jamal Simmons, Harris' former communications director, recently warned Democrats not to overestimate how well the vice president would fare against Trump in a debate, noting that Harris hasn't debated in four years, while Trump has more recent experience.

“I've got the popcorn ready. I can't wait just because she's the prosecutor. She's great at stand-up and she has the facts on her side,” Deutsch said.

Harris has not given a single interview in the month since she entered the presidential race, and NewsNation host Chris Cuomo said on his podcast Thursday that she is avoiding the media because she is weaker than past Democratic presidential candidates.

“They don't want her in front of the media because they think there's a risk,” Cuomo said. “They wouldn't do that with Bill Clinton, they wouldn't do that with Hillary Clinton, they wouldn't do that with Barack Obama, because they didn't think there was a risk in having these people in chair.”
