Phoenix — Governor Katie Hobbs signed a bill banning the possession and sale of “sex dolls” that resemble children.
House Bill 2169 makes it a class 4 felony to knowingly possess an anatomically correct doll or mannequin that resembles a child under the age of 12.
States such as Hawaii, Tennessee and Utah have already enacted similar laws banning dolls of this kind.
Pinal County officials began encouraging legislators to introduce the bill earlier this year after several such dolls were allegedly found in the county.
“This sex doll is not the end result. This is not a substitute. Jim Hurd said earlier this year.
The bill passed the Arizona legislature with support from both parties. The governor signed the bill into law on Friday.
