Graham County Community College District Governing Board swears in returning member; elects leadership

THATHER – Re-elected Trustee Dr. Brad Montias took the oath of office at the regular monthly meeting of the Graham County Community College District Steering Committee. During the meeting, the Board members unanimously elected Montias to continue in his role as secretary. The members also unanimously elected Jeff B. Larson to continue as Chair of the Board and Royce Ann Moody as a Board Representative to the Arizona Community College Coordinating Council.

“On behalf of the entire EAC community, we would like to thank these individuals for the amazing work they do,” said EAC President Todd Haynie. “Their unwavering leadership and unwavering dedication to the university will underpin our success for years to come.”

Montierth will serve a six-year term representing District 1. He was born in Safford and grew up on his family’s cotton farm just east of town. He graduated from Safford High School and Eastern Arizona University.

After completing his studies at EAC, he attended the University of Arizona and graduated with a BA in Biochemistry. After attending his U of A medical school and earning his medical degree, he completed a residency in family medicine at St. Peters Hospital in Olympia, Washington.

Montierth is a member of the Board of Directors of Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center and has served as Chief and Vice Chief of its Medical Staff.

Montias has a great interest in education. He has been actively involved in the education of medical students, nursing students, and medical assistants. He appreciates and understands the educational and cultural opportunities EAC brings to Gila Valley and the high level of personal attention EAC students receive.

He and his wife Janet are parents to five children and continue to live on the family farm.
