Celebrating Inspiring Arizona Nurses
Arizona Blue Cross Blue Shield (AZ Blue) has announced the winners of its “Nurses Who Inspire” contest, recognizing three outstanding nurses for their dedication and influence in the nursing profession. These nurses were chosen based on their passionate nominations, which highlighted their positive impact on patients and the community. One of the recipients is Taja Palma, hailing from Graham County.
Dr. Kara Christ, Chief Medical Officer of AZ Blue, expressed her admiration for the nursing community, saying, “It’s a privilege to celebrate Arizona nurses once again. This being my second year, I am truly moved by the heartfelt stories we received, with hundreds of nominations highlighting the central role nurses play in patient care. Their unwavering commitment deserves our utmost appreciation.”
As part of the honor, each winning nurse will receive $3,000 in cash and tickets to an Arizona Diamondbacks game, where they will also be recognized on the field and invited to participate in the first pitch.
AZ Blue congratulates the nurses honored this year:
- Jilian Aitken – Specializing in complex genetics, endocrine, and HIV care, Jilian shared her thoughts on receiving the award.
- Jean Gribbon – As the founder and chief mission officer of Beads of Courage, a nonprofit aimed at supporting children with serious illnesses, Jean emphasized the global impact of nurses, stating, “Nurses change the healing process for people all over the world! It’s the most crucial discipline!”
- Taja Palma – A certified family and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, Taja expressed her gratitude, saying, “I am beyond words grateful for the opportunity to serve and be part of a life-changing profession.”
