Graham County Substance Abuse Coalition receives $250,000 grant to fight the opioid crisis

Phoenix – The Graham County Substance Abuse Coalition Awarded a $250,000 grant from the Arizona Attorney General’s Office.

Outgoing Attorney General Mark Brunovich announced Thursday that more than $2.2 million in grants have been awarded to organizations serving people in rural Arizona in one of his last acts in office. . His funds will be used to combat the effects of opioid abuse, according to a news release from the attorney general’s office.

Kathy Grimes, director of the Graham County Substance Abuse Coalition, said: “Living in a rural community and trying to find resources for community members and loved ones struggling with opioid addiction can be a challenge, if not impossible. The funds will allow us to provide the resources and programs to assist individuals seeking recovery, as well as provide the resources needed to further strengthen those who are actively engaged in recovery.”

of Graham County Substance Abuse Coalition It started in 2003 as a five-member cross-system substance abuse coalition to combat methamphetamine. It is now a non-profit organization with a board of directors.

Its mission is to provide resources, support, and education through prevention and intervention methods to reduce substance abuse, with a focus on youth drug use reduction and prevention.
