It’s been almost a decade since the Yarnell Hill fire that claimed the lives of 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots. This year’s plan was to unveil a memorial at the Yavapai County Courthouse in memory of the brave firefighters who lost their lives on June 30, 2013. The Granite Mountain Hotshot Memorial Partnership is seeking an additional $111,000 of his funding to help build this memorial. It is located in the Court Square. The additional amount is due to the rising cost of shipping materials and other items needed to complete the monument. The partnership enlisted actors from the hit show Yellowstone. Actor Foley Smith, who plays cowboy Lloyd Pierce on the show, filmed a video talking about the project, its necessity, and the firefighters who died in the firefight. To donate, you can send a check to 239 South Cortez Street, Prescott, Arizona 86303 or log on to his website at gmhsmemorial.com.
