Groups of about 30-35 people Cheyenne East Students went on strike at noon Wednesday to protest the violence at school.
The East Strike Students demand action.
According to the organization’s website:
“Both America and Tennessee, guns are the number one killer of American youth. Get out of school and call for action Wednesday, April 5th at noon local time.”
Officials in the Laramie County First School District have expressed safety concerns about strikes at the district’s schools, and there was a visible police presence in the East when the strike occurred at noon.
However, the protest went off without incident, and the students left the school and stopped in front of the East Building for about 10 minutes before returning to class.
