The number of arrests at the annual Hangout Fest in Gulf Shores, Alabama, shows police were busy during the three-day music festival.
A total of 94 arrests were made at the event this year, down from 107 last year, according to data released by WKRG 5.
While the majority of arrests at this year's event were drug and alcohol related, one unfortunate festival-goer was arrested for flying a drone close to an area used by police as a command post.
The following charges were raised in arrests made by the Gulf Shores Police Department and Baldwin County Sheriff's Office over the weekend:
- Unlawful possession of a controlled substance: 78 arrests
- Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree: 12 arrests.
- Public intoxication: 12 arrests
- Possession of drug paraphernalia: 4 arrests.
- Underage drinking: 4 arrests
- Illegal Activities: 4 Arrests
- Possession of forged documents: 4 arrests
- Distribution of a controlled substance: 3 arrests.
- Criminal trespass (2nd degree): 2 arrests
- Attempting to elude law enforcement officers: 2 arrests
- Unlicensed business: 2 arrested
- Resisting arrest: 1 arrest
- Warrant – Alias: 1 Arrest
- Tampering with physical evidence: 1 arrest
- Prohibited operation of unmanned aerial systems: One person arrested
The festival, which drew just under 35,000 fans this year, brings in millions of dollars for the city of Gulf Shores each year and has become an integral part of the local economy.
