Harvest Preparatory Academy students win Yuma County Science Fair

Harvest Preparatory Academy won the science fair over two local students by working to solve major agricultural programs.

Yuma, Arizona (Kyma, Kecy) – Students at Harvest Prep in Yuma have discovered that white noise semi-trucks can help stop spreading E. coli.

After discovering which frequencies reduce e coli, they decided to put it in their test by implementing this sound on the semi-track using a smaller wooden semi-track.

This is my second year of working on the project.

Diana Navarao, a student who worked on the project, shares why it is so important.

“It’s really exciting and I’m really proud of it, not only is this project helping me and my partners to help the community and my family,” Navarro said.

Students continue to win the Yuma County Science Fair, which comes first from all local schools.

The school won the Top High School Award, with Mercedes Castro and Carmen Martinez winning the Top General Student Award.

Diane Ladino also worked on the project and explained what it means to be a STEM woman.

“It really is because it is to use my knowledge to advance and show that women and stems can really reach far.

These students will head to the International Science Fair with nine other harvest preparation students in the coming weeks.
