‘He Was A Hero’: Doctor Who Tried To Save Corey Comperatore Recalls Assassination Attempt As Trump Returns To Butler

The doctor who tried to save the life of a man killed during former President Donald Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, said in an interview Saturday that July, as President Trump prepares to return to Butler within hours. I relived the assassination attempt.

A gunman opened fire on the former president at a rally in Butler, nearly assassinating President Trump and killing rally attendee Corey Comperatore. “It was like a rock ‘n’ roll concert. The sky was beautiful, just like today,” Sweetland told Fox, recalling the moment at the rally before the shooting. “Shots rang out… and then President Trump was immediately surrounded by a pyramid of Secret Service agents.”

“I heard a female voice that was probably about 40 feet away.” [away] … Scream, ‘I’ve been shot, I’m down,'” Sweetland said. “At that point, I hesitated. But then I heard a voice… It said, ‘Go!’ Go! they need your help. What are you waiting for? At first I thought so [someone else’s voice] …Now I truly believe it was God. ”

Ms. Sweetland went on to describe her attempts to save Comperatore’s life, telling Fox that she immediately performed CPR and cardiac compressions on Comperatore, then asked her to transport him to additional medical facilities. He said he had someone help him lift it.

Sweetland said police intervened and helped her at that moment, and said she had met Comperatore in the past.

“I had met Corey before and I made eye contact with his wife… All I could do was say to her, ‘He’s going to get the help he needs.’ said Sweetland. The Fox reporter then told him that Comperatore’s wife and family would be attending the upcoming rally. “I would love to meet them. I would like to say that their father died a hero, because he gave his life for them in a matter of seconds and threw his body on top of them so they wouldn’t get shot. …We hear a lot about Corey being a victim. And he wasn’t. He was willing to give his life to protect them.”

Sweetland said he plans to attend Trump’s rally in Butler on Saturday. President Trump plans to honor the memory of Comperatore and his family during the rally. According to told CNN, as did two other shooting victims who survived.
