Heat kills or contributes to deaths of 96 people in Maricopa County so far

Of the 96 confirmed deaths, 57 were due to fever and 39 were reported to be due to fever.

Maricopa County defines fever as “a case in which heat or exposure to heat is listed in Part I of the cause of death on the death certificate (a disease or condition in the immediate sequence of causing death).”
